I wanted to paint a Scottish Wildcat because although their appearance is close to a domestic tabby, there are subtle differences that give away their wild heritage. Interbreeding with domestic cats has had a dramatic impact in reducing their numbers, but kittens have been born through breeding programs in an attempt to restore the critically endangered species.

I am a self-employed artist, registered veterinary nurse and currently work at the Scottish Exotic Animal Rescue in Nairn. Animals and the conservation of our remaining natural places make up the biggest part of my life and of my art. I have been painting animals (domestic and wildlife), since graduating from University where I studied Zoology more than 20 years ago, but have become a self-employed artist recently.
