This piece of art features a Yunnan Lake Newt which lived in shallow ponds, swamps and the Kunming lake. Invasive species such as domestic Ducks, fish and frogs were introduced which competed for food or ate the newt. Cities around its habitat were build up, increased pollution affected the creature as it absorbs pollutants through its skin, it was last seen in 1979.

My name is Kate, I am a recently graduated art student. I am very passionate about extinction and my final university project was about extinct animals to try to raise awareness for them.
