Lion photographed and drawn in Western Cape. This huge lion with his thick black mane is closest to the Mountain lion which became extinct in the mid 19th Century. He was rescued from the Canned Hunting industry and resides at the Aquila Game Reserve.

I usually work as a marketeer and PR in the London theatres but have developed a passion for wildlife, conservation and art. I set up The Pawtrait Gallery in 2013 as a way to combine my love of watercolour painting and animals and was soon asked whether I could auction my artwork to help fundraise for injured and abandoned street dogs. In 2014 I travelled to South Africa where I was able to study and paint endangered wild animals. The experience was life-changing and I have since returned. It is lovely to use photographs from that time to help with this amazing cause.
