As an art therapist, I have adopted the damselfly and dragonfly as a motif for me as a transitional object. In the current coronavirus environment this is more pertinent as these creatures are ancient talisman and symbols for transition and metamorphosis. Their ability to live in the air and water, to fly backwards and hover and see 360 degrees shows their versatility at being reflective and adaptive creatures.

A trainee art therapist, Belinda trained in fine art at Byam Shaw and figurative sculpture at Heatherleys. She is an art historian and teaches in Central London. She is also a novelist and performance poet.
